Essunga parish - Print Identity

Client
Church of Sweden - Essunga parish

Mission
Create a visual identity for the parish, focusing on print

Description
Part of my assignment as the communicator for Essunga parish included re-working the print material produced in-house. There was a definite need for a unified identity across all sections; be it church service, child care, funerary work or deaconry, to mention a few.

The identity needed to fit the national identity of the Church of Sweden, as well as representing the church on a local level. By using the national identity guidelines, setting a standardized approach to printed material and defining different sections of the organization through the use of symbols, color choice and imagery, my work resulted in a print identity that is a clear part of the Church of Sweden without sacrificing a local personality.

To finish things off, all broschures, folders, flyers and posters were converted into Microsoft Publisher templates, allowing the parish to use and re-use all printed material without the need for any advanced techical knowledge.

Adobe Suite, Microsoft Publisher

Design and layout the Parish Instructions

Role
Graphic Designer

Description
The Parish Instructions is a control document containing the vision, strategy and course of action for the parish. It’s a valuable resource not just for employees and elected council members, as it also gives members of the church an insight into the workings and future development of the parish.

In order to reflect that, I was assigned the task of designing a more attractive design that was more inviting to read than traditional documents like it. I decided to solve this challenge by bringing the document closer to the feel of lifestyle magazines, focusing on a design and layout with visual clarity, lively imagery and diverse representation of people within the church.

Swedbank - App Redesign

Brief
Redesign Swedbank's app (Fictional commission)

Role
UX Designer

Description
As a side project I decided to try my hand at redesigning a service I use daily - Swedbank's app.

The main goal was to modernise the interface, but at the same time I wanted to make some usability improvements. Visually, I took some liberty with my use of the brand identity, aiming for a bolder but still familiar look, combining that with clear categorization and simple input controls.

Disclaimer: This project is personal, the brief is purely fictional and has not been commissioned by Swedbank.

Ericsson - Vestige

Client
Ericsson

Brief
Design a digital solution that incorporates Ericsson's M-Commerce service in order to develop it further in emerging markets

Role
Concept Developer, UX Designer

Description
Hyper Island Project

With the economical and cultural globalization giving way for services like Airbnb and Uber, the demand for easy and secure transactions between users is high. This is exactly what the mobile financial service that Ericsson developed provides.

The same target group that uses aforementioned services became the main focus for my team and I, due to their "borderless" lifestyle – constantly moving travellers in need of genuine travel experiences.

Hence, we developed the concept of Vestige – The app that connects people locally through user-created events, allowing for social activities without the following hazzle of splitting payments. Visitors are able to view and attend events based on proximity and preference, paying only their share directly through the app thanks to Ericsson's integrated M-commerce system.

7:ans Hamburger Bar

Brief
Brand engagement

Role
Concept Developer, Graphic Designer, Retoucher

Description
During my time in the intern team Stendahls//Virus, the hamburger bar known as 7:ans needed a campaign for the summer. The history of 7:ans goes back to the seventies, but is nowadays probably most known for being Swedish singer-songwriter Håkan Hellström’s go-to place. It doesn’t get more “Gothenburg” than that! So we wanted to remind Gothenburg’s people that whatever the occasion – 7:ans Hamburger bar is an essential part of the city. How? Well… as 7:ans has always done it; with tounge-in-cheek and burger-making.

Rock legend playing on Gothenburgs biggest stage? Say hi to “The Boss”: an americanised homage to the returning artist. A certain popular tv show airing the season’s last episode just before summer? “Summer is Coming”. By making these, and several more, time-limited deals, 7:ans could position themselves as a relatable, bold and relevant business experiment and do things in their own, personal, and very “Gothenburg” way.

Head & Shoulders

Brief
Rejuvenate the Head & Shoulders brand

Role
Package Design, 3D Visualisation

Description
Head & Shoulders was the client for a 42 hours long "cross-program brief" at Hyper Island, mixing Digital Media Creative students with Motion Creatives. The goal was to reach out to a younger audience, or to paraphrase – Lose the "your dad's shampoo" reputation.

My team and I focused on a redesign of their packaging, where I took the role of designer and 3D modeller. Looking at what young adults and late teens consume, the main inspiration came from competing brands with a more minimalistic, transparent approach. The main challenge was to go in that direction without losing Head & Shoulders distinct visual brand.
